Some Ghanaians have expressed their dissatisfaction at government for its continuous minting of the 1 pesewa and the 5 pesewa coin into the market. They are of the view that monies used by the government to mint these currencies could be used to stabilize the economy since it usage is not significant in the business space.

NAFTI News in an interview with some traders expressed their disappointment and dissatisfaction in the government for minting those coins. According to them, these coins seems irrelevant and has been forgotten by both buyers and sellers. They added that these two currencies died on arrival as it is nowhere found in the open market because of its size, value and colour. These traders are saying, unlike the other currencies, the 1 Pesewa and 5 Pesewa are difficult to keep and makes counting very unenjoyable.

It is worthy to know that these coins although are legally tendered by the central bank, it is valueless and requires a colossal amount to arrive at a meaningful figure. It cannot buy anything in the market not even a sachet of water.'' They lamented.

In an interview with the Cal Bank Achimota Branch Supervisor, Mr Kenneth Konadu said the currency has lost it value and relevance as well as its intended purpose because of inflation. He mentioned that the aforementioned coin was meant to aid in smooth transaction of business in relation to balances and changes. Adding that the current state of the economy would not give space for the coin to be used as such. he admonished that although the coin had existed as a legal and an approved currencies, government ought to educate its citizens on the relevance  of the introduction of such currencies. He urged all Ghanaians to accept the coins for transaction since it still exist.
