Jogging is not only good for the body but also promotes emotional well-being. |
Jogging is one of the most well-liked forms of aerobic exercise and offers
a wide range of benefits for both the mind and body. Jogging is not only a fantastic workout, but it also has excellent effects on mental health, lowers stress, and enhances general well-being.
Jogging is a term used to describe running at a slow pace usually for an extended period of time according to Dictionary.com.

Physical inactivity is one of the major risk factors for cardiovascular diseases like cancer, diabetes, stroke, and death globally, according to a 2022 World Health Organization (WHO) report. In Ghana, non-communicable diseases like hypertension and stroke account for 43% of all deaths.
Despite this, informal surveys suggest many Ghanaians in vocations or professions that do not require any physical activity do not engage in physical activity.

However, in recent years, more Ghanaians have taken up many forms of keeping fit, such as walking, joining fitness clubs, and jogging
around neighborhoods or up and down the Aburi mountains. The Ayi Mensah Road to Peduase Mountain has become one of the most preferred destinations for joggers. Hundreds of people from all
walks of life, including men, women, and children, converge there weekly to either
walk briskly or jog in an attempt to remain fit and healthy.

Francis Aber is a young taxi driver who jogs regularly. He said, he initially did not believe in jogging, but after falling sick, his perspective changed.
“My doctor recommended jogging to me after a stroke and advised I jog at least three times a week to prevent a recurrent stroke; since then I have been jogging,” said Francis.

He continues to explain that there are so many other benefits derived from aerobic exercise.
“Jogging has been proven to help
with cardiovascular health, and for people with very low heart rates, doctors
advise them to do some form of exercise, such as jogging, for the heart rate to
increase. Jogging also helps to boost the immune system against minor illnesses, and for diabetic patients, jogging aids in utilizing insulin better”.
Jogging is one of the
healthiest physical activities available to us. Whether alone or with the
company, you only need a safe area outdoors and a positive attitude. Why don’t
you join the bandwagon? For a jog a day might just keep the doctor away.
